Bio:

Adjunct Professor Shapell received her B.A. in 1973 from the University of California, Santa Barbara, her M.P.H. in 1978 from the University of California, Berkeley, and her J.D. in 1984 from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She served as law clerk to Magistrate Judge Wayne D. Brazil of the United States District Court, Northern District of California. She worked as a litigator with Heller Ehrman in San Francisco and as a research attorney for the San Mateo County Superior Court.

Professor Shapell teaches California Civil Procedure at Hastings, and she has taught Legal Research, Writing and Analysis at Hastings and the University of San Francisco School of Law. She is co-author of the second edition (2005) and third edition (2008) of Cases and Materials on California Civil Procedure, published by West, and of West's Sum and Substance Quick Review of California Civil Procedure (2008).
